Further information about large parasols
When selecting large parasols or market-umbrellas, you should pay attention to a few important different characteristics. The following paragraph provides an overview of the most important features.
Shape
Square or round umbrellas are predominantly used. The square shape often proves to be more practical, especially if several sun-umbrellas are to be placed directly next to each other. Square parasols make it easier to shade large areas or protect them from the rain. Round sun-umbrellas are made from 8 segments and square ones are usually made from 4 segments.
Opening system
Selecting the appropriate opening system should align with the parasol's area of use and size. For smaller models up to 3m in diameter, a simple slide system is used in which thes sun-umbrella is pushed up using the handle. Other systems offer greater comfort thanks to effortless opening, such as the cable pull, which is a cost-effective choice. The push-up or crank opening offers even more comfort, enabling even large market umbrellas to be opened with just one hand.
Table clearance
Table space should be ensured, especially in the catering industry. Tables and chairs adjacent to the parasol should not obstruct when opening or closing the sunshade. Sun-umbrellas with a telescopic function are particularly ideal for this, having a two-part pole, which enables the upper section to ascend during closure, maintaining adequate clearance. All parasols featuring push-up and crank opening mechanisms are furnished with this telescopic function.
Printing
Almost all sun umbrellas offer various printing options. Even when producing individual items, the umbrella can be printed against any background colour or image motif. Typically, most large parasols are printed all over, utilising various printing techniques tailored to the sun-umbrella's area of use and the required number of umbrellas. For example, in the case of a large number of hours of sunshine (e.g. in the catering industry), care should be taken to ensure that the colours are highly lightfast, as this can turn out differently depending on the printing technique.
Portability
When selecting a model, it's important to consider whether the sunshade will remain in a fixed location or if it will be frequently moved. Portable sunshades or event umbrellas feature a two-part pole, facilitating compact packing. Portable umbrella stands typically feature a plate or filler stand. Alternatively, pop-up tents are also the ideal portable alternative.
Design
Large parasols vary in appearance due to several factors including their shape, frame construction, and colour selection. Another key distinguishing feature is whether the umbrella is equipped with a valance or not. A valance-free umbrella presents a modern aesthetic, while one with a valance exudes a more classic design.
Accessories
